Wearing fragrance in heat
Warm skin projects more and holds less. What that means for how you choose and apply a scent.

Heat changes a fragrance twice over: it accelerates evaporation, so the opening is louder and shorter, and it raises skin temperature, so everything projects further than it would in cold air.
Practical adjustments
- Use less than you would in a cold climate — one spray usually reads as two
- Apply to clothing or hair as well as skin, where the composition changes more slowly
- Choose drier, more mineral compositions over sweet ones, which amplify in heat
This is also why the same bottle can smell like a different fragrance on holiday. It is not the bottle.
